INFLUENCERS How Trends & Creativity Become Contagious

INFLUENCERS TRAILER from R+I creative on Vimeo.

I know I’m super late with this video but I didn’t have this site when this video was released and there’s no way I could go on without this video on my site. Influencers is a dope documentary that takes an in-depth look at what makes someone an influencer. In my industry, being an influencers is worth more than anything and some of the people featured in this documentary are the biggest influencers in the business. Kudos to Paul Rojanathara & Davis Johnson.

SYNOPSIS

INFLUENCERS is a short documentary that explores what it means to be an influencer and how trends and creativity become contagious today in music, fashion and entertainment.

The film attempts to understand the essence of influence, what makes a person influential without taking a statistical or metric approach.

Written and Directed by Paul Rojanathara and Davis Johnson, the film is a Polaroid snapshot of New York influential creatives (advertising, design, fashion and entertainment) who are shaping today’s pop culture.
“Influencers” belongs to the new generation of short films, webdocs, which combine the documentary style and the online experience.

Jay-Z Decoded iPad/iPhone

jay_z_cover_decoded

Jay-Z’s Decoded book campaign is one of the best campaigns I’ve seen in the past two years without a doubt. From front to back, Decoded pushed the limits at every point of the campaign from online promo to the traditional promo and now they’re pushing the limits with their new iPhone/iPad app.

Fuzz Productions was brought on to make a simple app for Decoded but ended up creating a completely immersive multimedia app with dynamic layouts, custom animations and integrated audio and video. The app also includes over 30 minutes of video interviews, interactive lyrics, user polling, and in-app purchasing of Jay-Z’s work. NEXT LEVEL. Big up to Fuzz Productions. Never heard of those guys but they obviously know what they’re doing.

Checkout the video below to see what I’m talking about:

…PS: The app won a FWA award as well… good shit!

New Mixtape: Wiz Khalifa – Cabin Fever

Wiz_Khalifa_Cabin_Fever_Cover

Wiz Khalifa comes out of fuggin nowhere and drops a Mixtape to supply all those Taylor Gang fiends until Rolling Papers drops. Looks like Wiz is going back to the streets after those pop songs flopped.

….ps: why is everybody using the Kanye design (blacked out photo in the background with text on top) for their artwork… Kanye’s influence is crazy.

odd future: Santos NYC 02-15-11

oddfuture_santos_show

I know I’m making this post a day late but that exactly how long it took me to recover from what I saw Tuesday night. I am 100% convinced that these guys (odd future) are foreal. The energy, command, and sure honesty of the group is crazy and translates even more during their live show. Before i was unsure if their live show could match the creativity of their visuals but I was definitely wrong… I feel like shit for even doubting these cats.

When I take a look at all of my favorite artist, they all share one common thing. Its not their talent level, style, or crazy beats. The one thing that they share in common is that they are all tribal leaders. Artists of all stripes can entertain us, certainly, but when you create a movement, things change, a new force appears and the world becomes different and thats what Odd Future showed me the other night. These dudes are foreal.

Take a look at the show below and tell me what you think.

Oddfuture

I’ve been on the Oddfuture bandwagon for a while now. They’re definitely a welcomed breathe of fresh air to the over commercialized rap music that I’m used to hearing. I’m so much on the bandwagon that I’m venturing out to watch this group of rag-tag MCs live at Santos tonight and I’m not going to lie, I’m kinda skeptical about seeing Oddfuture tonight. Their videos and songs are dope but i cant imagine seeing them live. Checkout one of their videos below:
