Between J. Cole’s first two mixtapes, The Come Up and The Warm Up, it’s safe to say that two of the standout, fan favorite tracks were “Simba” and “Grown Simba”. Although his third mixtape, Friday Night Lights, didn’t feature a song themed with the young Lion King’s name, Cole surprised fans last night by keeping the series moving. With the fittingly titled “Return Of Simba”, he raps for four minutes straight on a beat he co-produced with his close affiliate Elite. Even though Cole tweeted his album name, Cole World, right before releasing the song, it’s not 100% certain whether or not the track will make the cut for his highly anticipated Roc Nation debut. However, the song is definitely a good indicator that he’s worked his hardest to make sure the project does not disappoint. Give it a listen below.

New Music: Big K.R.I.T. – “Time Machine”
There is no way you can be from the south and not feel Big K.R.I.T. His music is a gumbo mix of all the best ingredients from the south. A little bit of Outkast, a little bit of UGK and a whole lot of 808 trunk music. Big K.R.I.T. is by far my favorite rapper amongst these new cats.
Anyway another joint from his new album “Return Of 4eva” was released today and it bumps. Check it out below.

True Story: I actually got the privilege to listen to “Gift Raps” about 8 months ago when I was in Cleveland to meet up with Chip. The project was supposed to be released about 3 months ago and and it was originally supposed to be up for sell on iTunes but I guess Chip wants to give something to the fans before he hit SxSW (great timing!).
