Facebook is by far the the most progressive invention of our life time. It has exploded way further then I thought it would when I first started using it during college in 2005. To be honest Facebook dictates a large part of my life, from how I communicate with friends to how I receive news. Jean-Jacques Parys (a college student) breaks down just how instrumental Facebook is in a lot of our lives. Check the Infrographic Video below:

The New Facebook Profile Page

Look like the boys at Facebook are at it again with todays introduction of the new Facebook profile layout. And from what I can gather from the 30 minutes I’ve been playing with it, it looks pretty dope.

From the new tagged photos feature at the top that allows people to see your most current photos, to the ability to create activities and tag your friends that are apart of the activity as well. So all in all Facebook has killed it again. I know people a going to wig out about privacy issues but that usually lasts for a few day and then they’re back loving Facebook and spying on other peoples pages.

Grab the new Facebook Profile HERE.

Damn I wish I had a time machine… I would definitely make a trip to Harvad in 2003. I would be paid. HAHAHA.

The Social Media Sobriety Test

This idea is freakin genius!!! I’ve definitely caught myself drunk chatting and messaging on the internet…. waking up the next day wondering “Did I really write that?” Or even worse, running into the person I was talking to the next day and having no recollection of the conversation. Now I have barrier between the internet and my sometimes drunken self. Check it out below, it really works.

Apple x Verizon, DUH!

So today Apple and Verizon made the announcement that they are teaming up to release the iPhone (big surprise). This is probably as much of a surprise as finding out Ricky Martin is gay. I mean we all saw this coming a mile away. Apple has been looking for another partner since the day they signed with AT&T.

AT&T is the equivalent of the not so hot girl that you have sex with first when your a virgin so you’ll be ready for the hot chick that you plan on having sex with down the road. Let me do some math for you:

AT&T = not so hot chick
Verizon = hot chick

Apple+AT&T= warm up
Apple+Verizon= the sex of a lifetime

Another huge mobile carrier under the belt for Apple = more $$$ for Mr. Jobs and company. Kudos to the folks at Apple and Verizon for making this work. I just hope they wear protection because you never want to get burned. POW!!!

Facebook’s New “Group Feature, How do we feel about this?

Mark Zuckenberg and his homies are not “gazillionares” for no reason. These guys are freakin smart and are always ahead of the game when it comes to improving Facebook and the internet along with it. The foresight of Mark Zuckenberg and friends has allowed Facebook to grow from a college campus tool to having enough members to be the third larget nation in the world. Yep, thats right. If Facebook were a country, it would be the third largest country in the world. So with all those people Facebook has been faced with keeping out the clutter, spam, and keeping peoples information private. So incomes the new Facebook Groups feature…

WHAT IS FACEBOOK GROUPS?
The new Facebook “groups’ feature that rolled out today allows you to:
1. Invite your friends to join you in gated (if you choose) social network
2. Share wall posts, links, photos, videos, events, documents and engage in group chat (that only your group can see)
3. Share content privately without worrying about your mom, boss, or that “not so cool friend” seeing it.

This concept sounds really familiar… Well, its exactly what Facebook is — or what it started out as. Facebook was cool when it first started because of the “exclusivity” factor (well that and the fact that you could stare at the pics of that hot girl in your english class).

The Groups feature brings that exclusivity factor back to Facebook and it allows Facebook to steer away from one of the things that killed MySpace (no exclusivity).

Do I think the group feature is some revolutionary feature that will change the internet?…..NO. But its a small feature that could keep Facebook alive unlike its predecessors. Kudos to Facebook.
